Fargo Public Schools administrators described a partnership with TNT Fitness to bring Able Games programming into the district, including assemblies, scholarships and an inclusion-focused curriculum.
Administrators said the Able Games pairs same-age peers with students who typically have intellectual disabilities to compete in an Olympic-style event. TNT Fitness has offered assemblies where middle- and high-school students can cheer peers and the organization is donating a $1,000 scholarship tied to the program, staff said.
Nut graf: District leaders characterized the Able Games as a promising inclusion program that pairs peers for competition and provides curriculum and AI tools to help teachers adapt lessons so students with different needs can participate with peer support.
At the meeting staff said Able Games also developed curriculum and an AI tool which, when provided a student’s limitation, can suggest adaptations and peer-support strategies so the child can be included in lessons. The administrators said they plan to integrate the program into assemblies and classroom work and to expand participation the following year.
Ending: The board heard the update; administrators said they will share more after initial assemblies and pilot classroom integration.
