The finance committee heard Sept. 11 that the district intends to renew its contract with Brett DeNovi & Associates for behavioral educational consultation at the same hourly rate as the previous year.
District staff described the service as an on‑call staffing and consultation resource that the district uses as needed to provide one‑to‑one behavior support, de‑escalation and short‑term intervention while a longer‑term placement or plan is arranged. The vendor’s hourly rate is $55; the district reported spending $51,046.25 on the vendor’s services during the prior year.
Al Oberman, Director of Special Services, said the vendor provides trained staff for short interventions—often two weeks to a month—to stabilize students, keep them safe and keep classes functioning while the district develops longer‑term plans. Committee members were told the contract provides immediate access to trained staff without repeated hiring or interview processes; the district pays only for hours used. The transcript records the presentation and discussion but no formal approval vote on a renewal during this meeting.
