Belton City Council voted to annex an 11-acre parcel at the northwest corner of East 170th Street and Holmes Road into the city.
City staff said the annexation request came from the property owner and will be subject to future rezoning and submittal of a development plan before any development can occur. Staff brought the annexation under R.S.Mo. Section 71.014 and noted that state statute allows voluntary annexations in Cass County to be approved by ordinance without a public hearing. Staff recommended approval; council approved the first reading by voice vote.
Staff told the council that development of the annexed land will require submittal of a rezoning application and development plan for council and planning‑commission review prior to any building permits being issued.
