The Board of Public Works and Safety approved the Street Department’s August report and granted several permits on Sept. 10 for neighborhood events and utility work.
Street Superintendent Chad reported August operations including 323 loads of brush removed, 58 tons of sweepings to the landfill, 70 hours filling potholes and 10,277 miles driven by crews. The board approved the street-department monthly report by voice vote.
The board also approved street-closure requests and curb-cut applications: a Sept. 12 homecoming block party closure on George Street requested by the Logansport Alumni Association; an annual fall festival/trick-or-treating closure in October by Cross at the Crossroads on East Broadway (blocking a half block used last year); and curb-cut permits for QC Communications to perform boring and multiple cuts on Erie Avenue and a larger spring project on Parkwood, High Street, Kings Mill and Lexington Road.
The board further approved Logan’s Landing’s downtown events — Scarecrow Row from Oct. 20 through Nov. 3 and a Halloween Spooktacular on Oct. 31 from 4 to 6 p.m. Staff noted the downtown events replicate prior-year activity and that traffic closures are limited in scope.
All items were approved by voice vote; staff did not present fee amounts for curb-cut permits or conditions beyond the standard permit requirements during the meeting.
