The Board of Public Works and Safety on Sept. 10 approved a contract with Lexipol to provide a wellness solution for the Logansport Fire Department, including anonymous counseling access, one-touch crisis lines and peer-support toolkits.

Fire Chief Miller described the product as an extension of the department’s existing SOP platform and said it offers “wellness toolkits” and the ability to certify peer supporters internally. “It’s also available to any firefighter’s family,” Miller said.

Chief Miller told the board the cost of the Lexipol wellness package will come from the fire department’s existing budget and that he would not need an additional appropriation for the fiscal year. The board approved the agreement by voice vote.

No implementation timeline or contract amount was presented in the public remarks recorded during the meeting. The chief said the platform includes behavioral-health guidelines and peer-support certification opportunities that the department plans to use as part of its employee wellness and crisis-response resources.

The contract approval was one of several vendor agreements the board considered during the meeting.
