The Board of Public Works and Safety approved a contract with Serviscape on Sept. 10 to prepare downtown holiday displays, including wrapping park trees and installing large fixtures.
The contract for holiday decorations matters because the city will pay a portion from its general fund and rely on community donations to cover the remainder of the nearly $20,000 contract, a parks staff member said.
Jan explained Serviscape’s work will include wrapping the Christmas tree and other park trees and “put up the really high stuff.” She said the total contract is almost $20,000, with $12,000 budgeted in the city’s general fund and the remainder expected from donations. The board moved and unanimously approved the agreement.
The board did not alter the funding split during the meeting; staff said the budgeted portion is already in the general fund. Details on donation management and contingency plans for shortfalls were not discussed in the public session.
