The Warren County Board of Commissioners adopted Resolution 291 Sept. 9 to allow the county planning office to advertise for bids on behalf of Shenango Township for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)‑funded park improvements. Rebecca Schaeffer of the planning office said the work includes new playground surfacing (described as a poured or rubberized safety surface), curb work and handicap striping to improve accessibility. The resolution sets advertisement dates for Sept. 11 and Sept. 18, with bids due Oct. 6, 2025. Commissioners asked clarifying questions about existing walking trails and a new entrance off Old Pittsburgh Road; planning staff said the current advertisement covers the playground surface and related curb and striping work, not the larger trail/entrance extension. The board approved the advertising motion by roll call (Commissioner Sonata, Commissioner Kennedy and Commissioner Vogler voting yes). Planning staff will proceed with the advertisement and manage the bid process on behalf of Shenango Township.
