Council reappoints three to economic development board, appoints hotel occupancy tax representative

The Pecos City Council on Sept. 11 approved reappointments to the Pecos Economic Development Corporation and filled a vacancy on the Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) Board. Jimmy Dutcheva, EDC director, told council that three terms were advertised and the three applicants sought reappointment.
Councilman Graham moved and Councilwoman Trujillo seconded a motion to reappoint Paul Hinojos, Jake McKinney and Ginny Barmore to two-year terms on the Pecos Economic Development Board; the motion carried by voice vote. Dutcheva noted that Barmore is completing an expired term left by a prior member and, if reappointed, would be eligible to serve a full term.
On the HOT board, City Secretary Luhan said the board requires one member who represents a hotel/motel business; an application from Richard Veil, manager of the Swiss Chalet and Best Western in Pecos, met the qualifications. Councilwoman Trujillo moved and Councilman Arona seconded the appointment of Veil to the HOT Board; the motion carried. Council members encouraged more community members to apply for boards and commissions.
