The commissioner said she is working with an OpenGov representative to schedule staff training to improve efficiency and transparency and that early conversations with other department heads about using OpenGov have been positive. She said community development and attracting business reinvestment will be a priority and that training and certification for inspectors and administrative staff are immediate needs.
When asked about responsiveness in a ward, the commissioner said she has already begun outreach: a constituent reported not receiving timely return calls under prior staffing, and the commissioner said she personally called a resident on a Saturday to follow up. She described the department changes as “a fresh start.”
