The award followed a staff report on nine written price quotes and references to prior service issues with an alternate vendor.
Why it matters: The town’s annual heating-oil contract covers municipal and school district needs and affects operating budgets for winter heating. The board emphasized reliability of delivery and past service record as factors in the town’s recommendation.
Public Services Director Bob Souzick told the board his department received multiple quotes and recommended the lowest responsive bidder listed in the packet. Board members discussed prior problems several years ago with one company’s service and sought assurance that the recommended vendor had satisfactory service records.
A Select Board member moved to award the contract for FY2026 to the vendor identified in the packet and to authorize Souzick to sign all related documents. The motion passed unanimously. Souzick said the town obtained multiple quotes and that the selected vendor’s price was lower than last year. Routine furnace maintenance and repair remain budgeted separately and are handled as needed at additional cost.
The Select Board asked staff to post contract details and to coordinate delivery logistics through the public-services office.
