City staff announced a community immigration resource forum scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 18 at 6 p.m. in the City Hall council chambers. Councilmembers said the forum is intended to provide residents with information and access to local immigration-related services.
The manager and council emphasized the forum will be conducted in Spanish to better serve the anticipated Spanish‑speaking audience, and that English interpretation will be provided on request. “We decided to make the event, a Spanish, language event,” the city manager said, adding that agencies and presenters were asked to prepare materials in the language most relevant to the target audience.
Staff named several intended participants, including 805 UndocuFund, local immigration attorneys and legal-assistance partners, and nonprofit service providers. The manager said the city secured office space and furniture from partners to host case-management services for a related homeless-encampment grant program starting Oct. 1; those are separate but complementary local service efforts referenced during the manager’s report.
The manager confirmed the forum will be live-streamed on the city’s Facebook and YouTube channels. The forum is intended as an outreach and resource event rather than a policy hearing; no council action was required.
