The Malden Planning Board on Sept. 10 voted to approve and authorize the chair to endorse an Approval‑Not‑Required (ANR) plan that splits a parcel related to Overlook Ridge Drive, formally creating two parcels — one with frontage on Overlook Ridge Drive and one with frontage on Salem Street. The motion to allow the chair to endorse the ANR plan passed by voice vote.
Why it matters: The ANR filing is not a subdivision but is a procedural endorsement under the Subdivision Control Law that clears the plan for recording. The split creates two parcels; most of the land lies in Revere, and a portion in Malden measures approximately 12,807 square feet. The parcels are not proposed as buildable lots and are intended to be part of the new Overlook Ridge Drive roadway when it is realigned.
Staff (Michelle Ferguson) summarized a July 24, 2025 cover letter from the petitioner’s attorney explaining the plan and noted that Revere has already signed the plan. Ferguson said the Malden portion is approximately 12,807 square feet and that the plan is straightforward: the parcels meet frontage requirements to join a public way, so a full subdivision review is not required.
Ken Antonucci moved that the chair be authorized to approve and endorse the ANR plan; Pat Hayes seconded. There were no questions from board members and the motion carried on a voice vote. The endorsement permits the plan to be recorded and will be used for future right‑of‑way work related to Overlook Ridge Drive.
