District finance staff presented three routine annual items at the Sept. 11 Committee of the Whole: a recommendation to accept the Converge cyber‑insurance quote over the incumbent HCC due to coverage limits; a standard annual approval of the district's depositories (no changes); and a planned resolution to seek a mass‑transit exclusion from the state requirement for yellow‑bus service. The district noted it receives competitive quotes and recommended Converge based on public liability coverage considerations. On the transit waiver, staff said Illinois permits some districts to waive yellow‑bus service where students have robust public‑transit access; the district plans to bring the waiver to the board for action at the next regular meeting. Board members raised families' complaints about PACE bus on‑time rates from the prior year; staff said they had contacted PACE by letter and phone and received a cordial, nonwritten response and a commitment to monitor routes. Staff also said the district does not currently have a formal dataset showing how many students use PACE daily and will try to locate those numbers before the waiver vote. One board member confirmed the exclusion under consideration would apply to the current 2025–26 school year.
