Superintendent Johnson and representatives of the Imagine Foundation returned to the board at the Sept. 11 Committee of the Whole to present a naming‑recognition guide and three proposed donor recognitions: a new science lab honoring Rachel Gamble Smiling, a yoga/meditation classroom honoring a donor family, and a green room honoring Elizabeth McGuire. The guide includes sample contracts, visual libraries and a suggested framework so donors will know what to expect for different recognition levels. A foundation representative, identified in the meeting as Heidi, said the guide clarifies how "what donors can expect" and noted renderings and sample contracts are now posted on the foundation's website. Board members asked clarifying questions about typical durations for naming rights; one board member said 10, 12 or 15 years is "pretty typical" and allows future fundraising opportunities. The policy committee and staff plan to return the naming items to the board for formal approval at the regular meeting in two weeks.
