Two business spotlights at the City of Cleveland Economic Development Corporation’s August meeting introduced a new indoor playground and provided an update from a regional federally qualified health center; the chamber shared several upcoming ribbon cuttings.
Denique Johnson, owner of Kids Adventure Clubhouse, said she and her husband opened the indoor playground in Cleveland about a week earlier and that the site offers a lounge area and free coffee for parents. “We are super excited about it. We’ve only been open a week,” Johnson said. She said the business currently operates without employees but plans to expand services, including potential drop-in hours and partnerships with local schools and businesses.
Maggie Estrada, chief operations officer at the Health Center of Southeast Texas, described the center as a federally qualified health center that receives funding from HRSA and other sources. Estrada said the organization operates multiple sites serving infants through geriatrics and that the Cleveland location offers pediatric, family-practice and mental-health services, including an MD-level psychiatrist in town. She said the center provided about 50,000 patient visits across locations last year and that it offers a sliding-fee program for uninsured patients.
On chamber business, staff told the board that a Marco’s Pizza will open that week and that Downtown Aesthetics and Wellness plans a ribbon cutting on Monday, Aug. 25, at 9 a.m. The EDC chair said the chamber will post event details and the EDC will share them on its Facebook page.
The board thanked the presenters and welcomed the new businesses and services to the community.
