Dave Anderson, highway/solid waste staff, reported there were no board action items and that most project work is wrapped up.
He said the Brooklyn Road bridge remained closed because two special-order rail posts were missing after a mix-up between fabricators and a contractor; the posts will be ordered and the bridge reopened once installed.
Anderson said electronics collection events will continue for another couple of weeks before shutting down for the season and noted that total pounds collected are down compared with five years ago as bulky CRT monitors have been replaced by lighter flat screens.
Committee members asked about a recycling dumpster location for the city of Dixon. Anderson said the city has decided it is “okay with the recycling units not being in this community,” but county staff continue to seek a location. He said county maintenance has discussed using a fenced area in the parking lot across from the Public Safety Building as a possible site; no final location was selected.
Anderson also reported a vacancy for a maintainer position was filled and the new employee started the day of the meeting.
