The Weld County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 15, 2025 issued a proclamation declaring the week as National Health Education Week and recognized the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment’s Community Health Division for its education and prevention programs.
Commissioner Scott James read the proclamation naming the week and listing programs including the Heart of Weld diabetes prevention program, Relate youth relationship education, tobacco education and prevention, Communities That Care, Weld Healthy Plate and Well Body. Olivia Egan, manager in the Community Health Division and acting interim director, thanked the board and highlighted the division’s 2024 accomplishments: reaching more than 4,100 participants in health-education classes, attending over 80 outreach events, conducting dozens of health screenings and providing hundreds of referrals.
Egan said the division uses evidence‑based curricula and collaborates with data teams and partners to align programming with community needs. Jason Chesner (pronounced on the record) and other commissioners praised the division’s work; Commissioner Kevin Ross emphasized data‑driven approaches and mobile health unit outreach. Commissioners thanked staff and offered personal remarks of appreciation.
The board’s proclamation encourages residents to learn more about the Division’s programs and resources at the county website listed in the proclamation text. No formal vote was recorded beyond the board’s adoption of the proclamation as presented and signed by all five commissioners.
