At its Oct. 21 meeting the Sarasota County Commission approved a mix of routine appointments, capital program updates, budget amendments and contract approvals alongside the larger items summarized in separate reports.
Selected outcomes (brief):
- Appointments: David Lowe was appointed as the at-large representative to the Breeze Transit Citizens Advisory Committee (item 24). Keith Farlow was appointed to the Englewood CRA advisory board (item 26). Philip Davey and a student representative were appointed to Keep Sarasota County Beautiful (item 27).
- Capital and budget items: The commission adopted CIP and budget amendments to fund Knights Trail Road utility improvements (item 29), approved Cowpen Lane property acquisition and appropriations (item 30) including the purchase of approximately 10.46 acres (item 30c), and approved a consolidated budget amendment incorporating miscellaneous supplements (item 31).
- Planning and permits: The commission approved a special exception to allow a place of worship with daycare and school at 2923 Ashton Road (item 32).
- Other property and procurement approvals: County staff received authority to close on multiple land acquisitions under SLIP/NPP, and a series of other routine contract awards and boards’ appointments were approved as listed in the meeting packet.
