Council adopts ordinance expanding Parks & Roadway Trust Fund to include water infrastructure

The City Council of the City of Homestead on Aug. 5 adopted an ordinance on second and final reading to amend the City Code so that the Parks and Roadway Trust Fund may be used for water infrastructure improvements, including water and sewer work as specified in the ordinance language.
Staff described the item as an amendment to Section 2-553 (use of trust funds) in Division 6 of Article 4 (Finance) of Chapter 2 (Administration) of the City Code, adding water to the list of permissible uses of trust funds. Council moved and seconded the ordinance on second reading; the public hearing was opened and closed with no public speakers, and the council approved the ordinance on roll-call vote.
The ordinance includes standard technical provisions for conflict, severability and codification in the City Code and became effective per the ordinance language following council adoption.
