The Board of County Commissioners voted Oct. 21 to adopt a resolution establishing Indian River County’s Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) five‑year public housing agency (PHA) plan and administrative plan, documents required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Stacy Bush, housing services manager, told commissioners the county currently administers 439 vouchers that serve nearly 800 people including children, seniors, veterans and people with disabilities. Staff said one individual reviewed the administrative plan during the public comment period but submitted no written comments.
Bush said staff has requested 10 additional vouchers specifically for a veterans program and that request is pending HUD approval. She said letters of support for the veterans request came from the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center and the county’s local continuum of care.
After a brief public comment in support of the request, the board voted to adopt the PHA plan, the administrative plan and the required HUD certifications. The vote was unanimous.
