CRA attorney says bar complaint alleging misinformation cleared by Florida Bar

CRA attorney McKenna reported Oct. 21 that the Florida Bar notified her of a complaint filed Aug. 15 by a Pompano Beach resident alleging professional misconduct. McKenna told the board the complaint was based on misinformation circulated on social media and some statements made from the dais.
McKenna said she provided the Bar with public records that demonstrated the allegations were incorrect and that the Bar cleared her in September. She told the board the episode harmed her professionally and also harmed the resident because the resident was entitled to rely on accurate public statements about city employees and the CRA. McKenna urged members of the public and the dais to consider the potential unintended consequences of public statements.
Mayor/Chair and commissioners thanked McKenna for the report. The CRA had no further action on the matter at the meeting.
