Flower Mound Historical Commission elects Jackie Norell chair, Kathy Blair vice chair; approves subcommittees

The Flower Mound Historical Commission elected Jackie Norell as chair and Kathy Blair as vice chair and approved a roster of subcommittees at its Oct. 21 meeting at Town Hall.

The commission took the votes after nominations during the start of the meeting. Commissioner Jackie Norell was nominated and won a roll-call vote; seven commissioners voted “aye” and one voted “no.” Commissioners then nominated and unanimously approved Kathy Blair as vice chair by roll call.

The commission also approved formation and leadership of several subcommittees, including the Gibson Grant Log House Committee (chair: Jackie Norell; members: Kathy Blair and Sweetie Bowman), Cemeteries (chair: Brian Williams; commissioner: Adam Shear), Education/Traveling Trunk (chair: Tara Klarich; vice chair assisting: Jackie Norell), Archaeological/Historical Landscapes (chair: Cindy Clark; member: Marsha Gabbitt; commissioner Sharon Gentry joining), and Oral Histories (chair: Peggy Riddle). The motion to establish the subcommittees passed on a roll-call vote.

The votes were conducted by roll call; commissioners present cast recorded votes during each motion. The commission’s chair and vice chair will carry those leadership roles for the commission’s next business cycle and the new subcommittee chairs will begin organizing work under the commission’s direction.

The meeting continued with presentations and agenda items after the governance actions.
