The Harford County Council on Tuesday approved two bills on final reading and granted an extension for the county’s annual financial audit.
Bill 25‑009 (amendment to Chapter 268, final plat procedures) was moved, seconded and approved by unanimous roll call: 7 votes in favor, 0 opposed.
Bill 25‑010, establishing a Police Accountability Board, was likewise approved on final reading by a 7‑0 roll call.
During the same session the county auditor requested and the council approved an extension to complete the county’s financial statement audit past the Oct. 31 charter deadline. The auditor explained the delay stems from Harford County Public Schools’ first-year use of a new financial reporting system; school audit completion is a prerequisite before the county financial statements can be finalized. The council approved the extension by unanimous vote.
Motions to approve the bills were made and seconded on the floor; the roll call recorded aye votes from council members present. The council certified the bills as finally passed and the auditor’s extension was approved for the reasons stated in the auditor’s written request.
