The Eastport Business Center Community Redevelopment Agency and the Port Orange Town Center CRA each approved operating budgets for fiscal year 2026 during back-to-back CRA meetings convened as part of the city council session.
At the Eastport CRA meeting, board members passed Resolution No. 25-01 (Eastport Business Center CRA tax increment district fiscal year 2026 operating budget). The vote was taken by roll call after a public question from John Cameron, who said he saw many vacant lots along Eastport and asked whether the city or CRA was actively marketing the property. "A drive through Eastport doesn't seem like very much is happening," Cameron said.
Council and CRA members said the Eastport CRA has a fund balance (reported in the meeting at about $907,000) that can be used for incentives such as permit fee assistance and advertising to attract development. Council members said some businesses are planning construction in the area and that the city and chamber continue to field inquiries from commercial prospects. Members noted infrastructure projects, including improvements to Spruce Creek Road to ease truck access, are part of longer-term plans to support development.
The Port Orange Town Center CRA also approved its fiscal year 2026 operating budget by roll call. Board members noted the Town Center CRA currently has no fund balance but also no debt; the CRA is applying incremental collections to pay down obligations.
Both CRA approvals passed without public opposition during the meeting.
