Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Director Jeff Pullman asked the Town of Davie Council to support a partnership to host the Vietnam Traveling Wall (a scaled traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial) at the Bergeron Rodeo Grounds in April 2026.
Pullman said staff worked with the Coral Springs Veterans Coalition and has the support of coalition representatives Philip Balam and Jason Ramsey. Pullman described two traveling replicas (a three-fifths and a one-half scale) and said the wall lists more than 58,000 names. He estimated the town’s contractual costs would not exceed $10,000, including an $8,000 rental fee that covers delivery, setup and breakdown and roughly $2,000 for lodging while the exhibit is on site.
Pullman said the coalition will raise funds to cover police security and arena cleaning fees and will assist with installation, volunteers and program planning. "We're proposing to host the event at the April in 2026 and have confirmed the availability of the wall to host the event," Pullman said. He said build-up would occur April 23 and load-out April 28, with public viewing open 24 hours per day from April 24 through April 27.
Jason Ramsey, the Coral Springs Veterans Coalition vice president, told the council the coalition welcomes the partnership and said hosting the wall during the nation’s 250th anniversary year offers a patriotic focus.
Council members expressed broad support to move forward and directed staff to secure dates and proceed with contracting and planning. Pullman said the town would provide event oversight, some staffing and marketing through the town’s public information office and would coordinate with the veterans advisory committee during planning.
