Buncombe County budget office receives 31st consecutive GFOA Distinguished Budget Award

John Hudson, Buncombe County Budget Director, told commissioners on Oct. 22 that the Buncombe County Budget Office received the Government Finance Officers Association Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the fiscal year 2025–26 budget document — the 31st consecutive year the county has won the award.
Hudson also said the office received special recognition for its presentation of capital programming for a second consecutive year and thanked the county manager, department directors and more than 50 staff across departments for their contributions. He said the FY 2025–26 document is under 400 pages and is available on the county website.
Commissioners congratulated budget staff on the award; Chair and others applauded the longtime record of recognition.
