City staff told the Gallatin City Council on Oct. 21 that beginning Nov. 3 customers purchasing trash cans or signing up for city garbage service should do so at the Utilities Department rather than the recorder’s office. The change combines multiple citizen-facing steps—utility sign-up and trash-can purchase—into a single location.
Richard DePriest, director of Environmental Services, said the change follows coordination with Utilities Director Mr. Kellogg and will simplify the customer experience by reducing the number of office visits required to start service. Staff noted roughly 30 trash-can sales per week on average and said forms were updated to reflect the new process; public notices will be published ahead of the Nov. 3 go-live date.
Ending: Staff said no council action was required; departments will notify the public in advance of the switch.
