Board member Miss Bell told the Caddo Parish School Board she has helped organize a community fund to pay for funeral and burial costs for infants from a homeless family and asked fellow board members to attend a public event to show support. "When you write your check, it's the Kettle Parish School Board Homeless Department," Bell said, and she named Timmy Lane funeral home as a partner that "is gonna do some things too."

Bell described receiving calls from community members and said the money will be given to the funeral home to cover the costs and that if funds remain in excess of burial costs they would go to the family. Board member Mister Little asked, "If there are funds in excess of the burial cost, would those be given to the family?" and Bell answered in the affirmative.

Bell said the family includes other children and that the homeless department is arranging housing and other immediate needs. She asked board members to attend between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. the next day to publicly support the family and thanked community contributors.
