Board approves minutes, defers an application and adopts 2026 calendar; new deputy director introduced

At its October meeting the Berkeley County Board of Zoning Appeals approved prior meeting minutes, deferred one application to November, approved its 2026 meeting calendar with a Dec. 15 date and heard a department update introducing new deputy director Jim Resta.
The Berkeley County Board of Zoning Appeals opened its October meeting by approving the minutes from the Sept. 16 meeting and later adopted the proposed 2026 meeting calendar, which includes a December meeting date of Dec. 15.
The board also deferred an application identified as TMS180-14-02-006 from applicant Jason Smith to the November meeting at the applicant’s request; board member Smith moved to defer the item and board member Shire seconded. The motion to hold the application for 30 days was approved.
During department updates, planning and zoning staff introduced Jim Resta as the department’s new deputy director. Staff also reminded board members to complete required training and presented the proposed 2026 calendar; a board motion to approve the calendar with the Dec. 15 date was moved by Mister Smith, seconded by Mister Shire and approved.
The meeting record shows two board members—Mister Mills and Mister Joy—were absent. After completing business the board adjourned by motion of Mister Shire, seconded by Mister Jefferson.
