At a recent Riverside Local facilities committee meeting, maintenance staff outlined a series of routine and emergent facilities items including preparations for snow season, pending contract reapproval for North Shore Paving, roof repairs and a water leak at the Riverview football field.

Staff said North Shore Paving will mobilize equipment on campus in November and that the board agenda for Thursday includes an item to reapprove North Shore’s contract; the reapproval reflects an added cost tied to a new parking lot at Riverview. Staff also reported roof leaks on the tenth at Buffer Buckeye, Riverview and Parkside and said audible devices at the high school were serviced and tested after failing to sound loudly enough.

Maintenance staff reported a separate issue at the Riverview football field: another leak was found at a water box under the visitor stands. "We will be shutting down the water indefinitely to the football field and to the practice fields," staff said, noting a prior incident a few years earlier where erosion beneath the turf created a hole. Staff said they have advised the athletic director and coaches and are exploring temporary options such as running hoses from the field house for summer practices, but do not want to excavate the relatively new track surface.

Staff also reported that Lake County Health Department will conduct its annual fall inspection of district schools on November 4, starting on campus and finishing at Parkside later in the day. Work at the Riverview career and technical education (CTE) project is moving forward; staff said a short video update would be published by district communications staff.

The district's alumni association donated $3,000 toward a softball scoreboard; staff said that item will appear on the Thursday agenda. Construction milestones discussed included glazing/dry‑in status for the CTE project and expected deliverables before Christmas, weather permitting.

No formal board votes were recorded in the maintenance update portion of the meeting; staff flagged the North Shore contract reapproval as an upcoming board agenda item.
