East Central ISD recognized Linda Gomez, the child nutrition manager at Tradition Elementary, for leading district summer meal operations that served more than 19,000 meals at a curbside site this summer.
Superintendent-level remarks introduced Gomez and described her role: staff asked the board to join in congratulating Gomez for stepping up to manage the Heritage Middle School curbside site when the department needed a manager. The presenter said, under Gomez’s leadership, the team perfected the curbside process and had served over 19,000 meals by July 17.
The presenter said Gomez’s work was noticed by No Kid Hungry Texas, which named her a 2025 Summer Hunger Hero and inducted her into that organization’s hall of fame. The board speaker said the district was grateful for Gomez’s service to students in the community.
The recognition was ceremonial; no formal board action was recorded. Board members thanked Gomez and acknowledged child nutrition staff for daily operations and summer outreach efforts.
