The Saratoga Springs Design Review Board on Sept. 10 approved six items on its consent agenda, clearing straightforward architectural and historic-review applications with no substantive discussion.
The board approved wall-mounted signage for Coldwell Banker at 83 Railroad Place; extension-of-approval historic work for a five-story mixed-use building at 53 Putnam Street; historic review for a small wireless antenna and equipment on a utility pole adjacent to 743 North Broadway; a wall-mounted sign at 78 Church Street; exterior basement-window modifications at 266 Lake Avenue; and a modification to an approved construction application at 326 Finley Street to add a solar-panel array. Chair of the board moved the consolidated approval and Mr. Rob DeBauf seconded it; with no objections the motion passed.
One consent item — Spirit of Halloween signage at 155 Ballston Avenue — was pulled by the board for further questions. After a short discussion of whether the applicant had sought a variance to allow an extended temporary banner to be treated as a permanent sign and how enforcement would work, the board approved that application with a single condition: the sign must be removed after 60 days. The motion to approve the Spirit of Halloween sign with that condition was moved by the Chair and seconded by Mr. Jeff Wood; the board voted in favor and the condition was added to the file.
The approvals are administrative in nature; applicants were told Julia in planning staff would follow up for any conditions and next steps.
