He noted programs launched under her leadership, including dual enrollment, career-technical offerings such as barbering, welding, sports medicine and a dental program he described as unique on a high‑school campus in Louisiana.
Dr. Sherilyn Locke, who stood when recognized, told the board she prefers to “stay behind the scenes and do what I have to do,” and thanked the board for the honor. Board members and administrators in attendance offered congratulations and noted her service on the Louisiana High School Athletic Association board as well as local mentorship work.
The board recorded the motion as carried after a voice vote; members announced “yes” and the chair said there was no opposition.
