Oldham County approves $101,385 construction cost amendment for Rollington Road; county share about $50,006.92

The Oldham County Fiscal Court voted to authorize the judge executive to sign a construction cost amendment with Libs Paving totaling $101,385 to cover additional work on a Rollington Road improvement project.
County Engineer Jim Silliman described the added costs as covering a large headwall for a 4-by-8-foot culvert, relocation of four water services not identified in original design, undercutting areas of soft subgrade discovered during proof-rolling, and an approximately 35-foot extension of curb and gutter to complete a driveway transition. Silliman said the project cost is being split 50/50 with the stormwater district board; the county’s portion is $50,006.92 and funds are available within the engineering contracts and construction budget.
The court discussed schedule impacts. Silliman said the contractor encountered harder-than-expected rock, which slowed production, but the road is expected to be opened to traffic with a paved base by mid-November; the contractor will likely return in spring to place the final asphalt surface when temperatures are more suitable for a durable finish.
A motion to allow the judge executive to sign the contract amendment was moved and seconded and approved by voice vote.
