Clean Water Services recommends two CWAC members for budget committee; appointments to come to board Nov. 4

Clean Water Services on Wednesday asked the Washington County Board of Commissioners to approve two nominations from the Clean Water Services Advisory Commission (CWAC) to the agency’s Budget Committee.
For the record, Elizabeth Edwards, chief of staff at Clean Water Services, told the board CWAC nominated Elaine Stewart for reappointment and Nisha George for appointment to three‑year terms on the agency’s 10‑member budget committee, which is composed of five elected officials and five community representatives.
Edwards said Elaine Stewart, originally appointed to CWAC in September 2022 and described as having a background in environmental science, previously served on the budget committee and has served on the Soil and Water Conservation District budget committee. Nisha George, appointed to CWAC in November 2022 to fill a remainder term and recently reappointed, was described by staff as having worked as a project engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and as having served on the Tarleton Hills Parks and Recreation District advisory body.
Edwards asked the board to agree to bring both appointments back to the Board on Nov. 4 for formal appointment to the Clean Water Services Budget Committee. One commissioner said during the work session, “I’ll say I’m in support of these two appointments,” and staff confirmed they will be presented for action at the November meeting.
The board did not take a formal vote on the appointments during the work session; staff said the next step is the Nov. 4 board meeting for placement on the agenda and formal action.
