Board hears updates on bond projects: Explorer Elementary bidding, softball timeline, finished campus work

He said the softball facility is on pace for a mid‑ to late‑winter completion that should allow the field to be open for the spring season. “It doesn’t really matter as long as it’s ready for the season to start in the spring,” he said.
Adam reported two projects as complete: the high‑school fire‑suppression system passed its final inspection last week and the tennis facility project is officially finished after final caulking work. He noted the fire‑suppression work was funded through the district sinking fund.
On flooring choices at the middle and high school, Adam said the district is evaluating scope-and-cost options and may need to reallocate bond dollars to cover potential overruns. He said the district hoped to settle on a scope decision within days and expected additional bond‑committee meetings to finalize selections.
Separately, Adam highlighted school celebrations tied to the facilities work and extracurricular programs: a revived Walk-to-School Day, a “pass‑the‑torch” pregame event that paired seniors and kindergarteners, and the tennis team’s regional championship and move to state competition.
Next steps: Explorer Elementary will return to the board for contract approval as bids are evaluated. Staff said they will finalize flooring scope and present recommended allocations to the bond committee and the board.
