YMCA Navitorium construction moves forward; shoring and pool piping in place

City staff told the council on Oct. 20 that construction on the YMCA Navitorium is progressing: vertical and horizontal shoring is complete, pool piping has started, precast panels have been installed and painting and tile work are underway.
"Shoring is now complete. Pool piping has been started," Steve (project presenter) said while showing photos of the site. Staff noted some tile deliveries have been delayed (one tile shipment for a splash pad area was not due until Nov. 30), and subcontractors are adjusting tasks to keep the job moving along the critical path.
The project team said the rec pool has two coats of paint applied and will receive a third coat before final lane markings. Installation of large HVAC ducts and deep-end forming was under way; forming the deep-end walls was expected to take about five weeks before work moved toward the shallow end.
No council vote was required; staff said work continues according to the contractor's revised sequencing and that the project remains on the contractor's critical path.
