Polk County commissioners authorized two ditch-cleaning actions after staff confirmed locations and landowner willingness to proceed.
The board approved a landowner'led cleanup and survey for State Ditch 61 in Section 12, and separately approved a contractor-led survey and cleaning for County Ditch 30 on the north side of Section 34 in Fanny Township. Staff confirmed both channels are legal ditches and that County Ditch 30 also functions as a roadway ditch; the board voted to approve the limited cleanings as requested.
Commissioners made both approvals by motion and voice vote. Staff noted the contractor identified the correct ditch numbers after a field check and that the work would proceed under county standards and the usual permitting processes for work adjacent to county roads.
By approving the cleanings, the county authorized the work to proceed under the county's ditch procedures and asked staff to coordinate the permits and contractor scheduling.
