Lee County commissioners approve resolution for Operation Green Light to honor veterans Nov. 4–11

The proclamation, presented at the meeting, noted Lee County’s veteran population of 4,352 and cited local veteran-serving organizations including the Lee County Veterans Council, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and others. Commissioners commented that veterans serve the county in multiple civic roles and the proclamation cites several named local veterans who serve on public bodies.
Sarika Bennett, introduced at the meeting as the county’s veteran services officer, thanked the board for the welcome and for the proclamation. The board approved the resolution by voice vote; no dissent was recorded.
The action was a ceremonial proclamation and does not create binding legal obligations; it asks residents and businesses to voluntarily participate in the Operation Green Light observance.
