Simsbury police report vacancies, retirements and community events; records room work nearly complete

Records room: Department staff said improvements to the records room are mostly complete and the project is awaiting final finishing work before storing records back in the renovated space; a start date for returning records was described as likely later in the month.
Community events and donations: The department listed recent community outreach, including an annual "Coffee with a Cop" event on Oct. 1 and a Simsbury Police Union fundraiser on Oct. 11 to support animal control officer Deb Clark. The department noted AEDs and other medical equipment were donated by civic groups at various times and that Narcan distribution had been supported by state supplements and donations.
Operational notes: A department representative noted that despite being short-staffed, current overtime levels had not yet risen significantly because previously absent employees had returned to work. The commission was reminded to help spread the word about recruiting and to encourage qualified applicants to apply.
