Oak Hills restaurant to reduce hours; manager urges stronger outing coordination next year

The authority’s restaurant manager, John Lloyd, said the dining operation will scale back hours in November as the golf season winds down and that the halfway house will remain available when the restaurant is closed. Lloyd said the concession cart will not operate except in exceptional weather, and that the restaurant will refocus on brunches, live-music evenings and private events.

On outings, Lloyd said staff contact organizers early in the year and again as events approach. He estimated roughly 60% of outings use the restaurant in some capacity; the remainder often do not use the restaurant because of organization or budget constraints.

"We make contact with everyone in January at the beginning of the year when we get the initial list. And, and then as we get closer, if we haven't heard back from them, we make contact again and kind of try and encourage them to use the restaurant," Lloyd said. "I imagine 60% of outings have gone through the restaurant in some capacity. But there is a sizable minority that have not really done anything, either through lack of organization on their part or lack of budget."

Lloyd said staff want to avoid pushing established outing relationships away but hope to include a food-and-beverage component more consistently in future outing packages.
