Miss Bateman, representing tourism and economic development, told the Committee of the Whole on Oct. 14 that a lighting retrofit for the recently acquired building at 50508 Broadway (the former bank building) would cost an estimated $28,340. Ameren incentives would pay $21,805 of that total, leaving an estimated city share of $6,535.
Staff provided an estimated annual utility savings of about $5,008, which the packet says would produce a payback period of roughly 14 months for the city’s upfront expense. Bateman described the project as consistent with other energy-efficiency improvements the city has pursued at public buildings.
Councilors agreed to place the lighting project on the regular agenda for a formal vote. The packet indicates the city intends to coordinate the project under the same program used for prior upgrades at city hall and other facilities.
