Jefferson County Development and Transportation staff told commissioners Aug. 5 they will solicit and bring forward several contracts for fall approval totaling up to approximately $6.5 million.
Assistant Director of Transportation Engineering Evan Brown and operations staff summarized requests for preapproval on three construction-level projects and annual Road & Bridge procurements. The major items are:
- Lewis Ridge and Larkspur culvert replacement (Evergreen area): county design to replace failing corrugated metal pipe in an AE floodplain with concrete pipe and a concrete box culvert, including erosion and roadway repairs; estimated not-to-exceed cost to be bid to on-call contractors: $2,000,000.
- 2025 minor-structure culvert linings: concrete liners and minor drainage/erosion improvements at 12 county sites; not-to-exceed $3,000,000.
- Kipling intersection improvements at Alamo Place and Progress Ave.: remove span-wire signals and install mast-arm traffic signals with improved ADA and pedestrian facilities at two intersections; not-to-exceed $1,500,000.
Road & Bridge staff also requested a not-to-exceed $1,500,000 contract for de-icing material for the 2025-26 snow season as part of annual supplies and service contracts.
Brown said the project designs are complete and staff are working with purchasing to bid the work to on-call contractors; the board would see the individual contract awards for signature and approval at future business meetings this fall. Commissioners asked operational questions about winter storms and equipment needs and indicated unanimous support to proceed with preapproval and bid solicitation.
