Jefferson County staff said on June 17 they plan to amend county policy to waive certain planning and zoning fees for affordable housing projects in response to a request from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA).
Chris O'Keefe, the county’s planning and zoning director, and county staff said the proposed change would implement a request from DOLA and was discussed as a follow-up to a presentation on waiving planning and zoning fees last week. Staff said they plan to draft an amendment to the policy and return the item for a formal hearing; commissioners were informed but did not take a vote at the briefing.
The discussion was presented as an informational follow-up; staff said a future hearing will include the specific policy language and any associated implementation details. No fiscal impact was presented at the June 17 briefing, and staff said they would bring a formal recommendation, including any fiscal implications, to a subsequent meeting.
