Council hears administrative correction to remove health‑inspector duties from building inspector

The city does not operate its own public-health department; Madison Dane County Public Health covers public-health jurisdiction in the area. Staff said state statutes include qualification requirements for designated health inspectors that the building inspector does not meet, and reported a recent incident in which callers sought a city-conducted health inspection and staff had to make a referral to county public health.
The council did not vote on the amendment during the meeting; staff described it as a housekeeping change and said it is being brought forward so the code language matches actual practice and statutory requirements.
