Sejka said the presentation included many concepts that staff and the board will review further.
Board members noted significant volunteer activity at small Palmisia Park, where neighborhood volunteers and an Eagle Scout repaired paths, installed new wood chips, cleared dead wood, and reduced fire danger along the riverbank. The work followed prior repairs to a trail access completed last summer; Parks members praised the volunteers and said Palmisia now offers a widened path, picnic tables and an osprey nest viewpoint.
Parks staff also reminded residents that the parks grant program still has $15,000 available: $10,000 for general parks grants and $5,000 reserved for youth grants. The board encouraged groups seeking amenities such as shade at new pickleball courts or other small improvements to apply.
Separately, the board described a useful Eagle Scout project — a trash‑can holder designed to keep lids secure and ease collection — and praised that candidate’s follow‑up report.
What happens next: Parks staff will post the master‑plan materials (already in the Parks packet) for public review, solicit feedback, and return to the parks board for further deliberation. Grant applicants may apply through city volunteer/opportunity channels.
