Council appoints Aaron Heisel as municipal court judge pro tem

The Keizer City Council on Oct. 20 unanimously adopted a resolution appointing attorney Aaron Heisel as a municipal court judge pro tem to serve on an as‑needed basis.
City Attorney Joseph Lindsey explained that one of the city’s prior pro tems is no longer available and that Heisel — a Salem‑based civil litigator who has previously worked on municipal matters — has offered to serve. Heisel introduced himself from the audience and told the council he has served in related roles and is willing to assist the court on a sporadic basis.
Council President Shaney Starr moved adoption of the resolution and the council approved it by voice vote. City staff said the appointment is intended to provide occasional courtroom coverage when the regular municipal judge is unavailable.
The resolution was adopted by unanimous vote. There was no reported change to court procedures or fees; the appointment is for pro tem coverage only.
