District unveils online curriculum blueprint to share K–12 learning plans

District staff demonstrated a new online curriculum blueprint the Gettysburg Area School District added to its website, saying the tool will make course and unit-level plans transparent and easier for parents, teachers and the public to review.
Ann Bohm, the staff member who led the presentation, told the board the district moved its unit-level curriculum into a new blueprint format hosted on the Eduplanet21 platform. "We are here to share the curriculum blueprint that we have been working on and, able to share the transparency of our curriculum through this new format," Bohm said. She said the blueprint was added to the district site about a week earlier and allows users to view subject-area tiles, click grade levels, and drill down to units and standards framed in an Understanding by Design (UBD) approach.
Bohm said the blueprint shows course overviews, unit plans, standards alignment and long-term transfer goals; some units are published for public viewing while others remain under development. A board member praised the platform’s accessibility and said it should make it easier for parents to understand what students are learning.
The presenter described the curriculum as dynamic rather than static; staff can publish completed units and continue to edit the back-end content. Bohm credited department heads, curriculum leads and instructional coaches for the work and thanked administrators for allowing teachers to be pulled for development time, including work over the summer.
The district used Eduplanet21 for unit-level work and said the new blueprint view is intended to streamline public access and reduce reliance on PDFs and shared drives. The board did not take action on this informational item; no implementation vote was required at the meeting.
