Court members used the meeting’s announcement period to highlight upcoming community events. Trevor Velasquez, identified as chair of the Saline County 250 Commission, said Bauxite will be among 11 Arkansas sites to receive a historical marker tied to the national America 250 commemoration; the county will mark the site and hold a Veterans Day ceremony on Nov. 11 beginning at 9:30 a.m., with the state secretary of parks, heritage and tourism expected to attend.
The court also announced an unused prescription drug dropoff on Oct. 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; county staff described a drive‑through dropoff on county property and urged residents to check medicine cabinets for unused prescriptions. Justice Belanger and other volunteer committee members reported that the county’s recent Keep Saline Clean trash pickup collected about 1.75 tons of trash — an increase over prior events — and that the committee set three dates for next year (two in spring, one in fall) to expand the program and involve schools.
Court members encouraged justices to coordinate with local school leadership to increase student volunteer participation in future pickups and said more details will be shared as dates are finalized.
