Salt Lake City Council adopts package of ordinances, CIP and housing policies in unanimous votes

Salt Lake City Council adopted a set of ordinances and resolutions Tuesday evening, approving changes to the city’s administrative appeals process, design-review standards, the fiscal year 2026 Capital Improvement Program and several housing-policy items. All motions passed by unanimous voice vote.

The council closed the public hearing on an ordinance that would consolidate appeals for certain license denials, revocations or suspensions and civil-infraction appeals into a formal administrative appeals process and add an $81 fee for formal administrative appeals. Council member Pui moved to close the hearing and adopt the ordinance; Council member Dugan seconded, and the motion passed unanimously. The administration’s introduction noted the change would replace the current small-claims-court pathway for those appeals and that the amendment would also apply to the recently adopted parties-and-events ordinance (adopted Aug. 12).

The council also adopted an amendment to the city’s design-review standards. Council member Dugan moved to adopt the ordinance, seconded by Council member Pooey; the motion passed unanimously.
